Biophysics and Structural Biology Scientist

We are currently seeking a Biophysics and Structural Biology Scientist to work onsite with our agile team in our Boston Seaport office/lab.

Job Requirements

  • Independently design and execute biophysics and structural biology experiments
  • Develop, optimize, validate, and automate biophysics assays to characterize small molecules inhibitors for hit-finding, hit-to-lead, and lead-optimization
  • Design and execute assays to evaluate drug activity and mechanism of action
  • Critically analyze, interpret, and present data to the team
  • Manage relationships and scientific outcomes with remote collaborators to set up/validate novel assays
  • Work cross-functionally to establish structure activity relationships within chemical series
  • Communicate ideas and results to internal and external parties in verbal, written, and presentation formats
  • Stay updated with relevant scientific literature and propose new experimental strategies and approaches

Key Qualifications

  • PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, and/or structural biology, a minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial drug discovery setting is desirable
  • Expertise with a variety of laboratory techniques such as SPR is a must, DSF, Alphalisa, hTRF, Size Exclusion, Fluorescence Polarization, general biophysics characterization
  • Expertise in protein construct design, expression, purification, from a variety of host systems (Mammalian, Insect, E.coli)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments, record data, and interpret results and proactively design follow-up experiments
  • Highly organized, detailed-oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail

Additional Experience of Interest

  • Experience in structural biology techniques such as crystallization, broad screening, seeding, harvesting, and data analysis, is a bonus but not required
  • Experience in automation utilizing instruments such as Bravo, Formulatrix Suite, Mosquito, Art Bio Scorpion, Echo are a plus
